shutterstock_68823886Bottled water sales grew 120 percent between 2000 and 2015, according to Beverage Marketing, cutting into soda sales.

In reporting about the study, USA Today noted that carbonated beverage sales have declined 16 percent in the same time period. Health concerns are pushing the trend, and the big soda companies have taken note with large investments in bottled-water brands.

The bad news is that the environment will suffer from more, not less, use of plastic bottles.
