resize_shutterstock_228578737Convenience stores gave or collected almost $1 billion destined for charities in the past year, according to a new report by the National Association of Convenience Stores.

The median direct contribution was $4100 per store, and $2500 in collected donations. More than 97 percent of the stores that responded to the survey said they donated to charities.

Nearly two-thirds of convenience stores reported that they support five or more charities in their communities.
