As many may be aware from the Southeast Petro Facebook and LinkedIn pages, we are highly involved in giving back to our community. What makes Southeast Petro such a great company to work for, is that not only are the owners major donors, supporters and board members of many local organizations such as the Crosswind’s Youth Services, Central Florida Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, Red Cross, United Way, Eastern Florida State College, and the Scott’s Center for Autism just to name a few, but their culture of giving back has been instilled in their employees as well.
The last two weekends were major fundraising events for our community. The first weekend (October 15th) was the Jailbreak Brevard Adventure Race hosted by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office headed by Sheriff Wayne Ivey. This fundraiser goes to benefit multiple charities, but the highlighted charity was the Space Coast Field of DreamsĀ OrganizationĀ whichĀ built and operates an all access multi-sports complex thatĀ encourages a meaningful recreational experience for children and adults of all abilities.
The Jailbreak Brevard Adventure Race is a 3 mile obstacle and mud run. What makes this event so popular and wildly fun, aside from the challenging obstacles and the filthy mud, is that throughout the course, there are deputies waiting to catch you and throw you in the slammer! It is all based around participants being fugitives and outrunning the law. The objective is to get to the finish line with at least one bracelet (If you get caught by an officer, you lose a bracelet!). The Southeast Petro team was named the ‘Fueling Fugitives’ and as in the past three years, has had an absolute blast at this fundraising event.
This past weekend (October 22nd) was the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer BrevardĀ walk in Viera, FL where funds were raised by all of Southeast Petro staff to benefit the American Cancer Society.Ā The Southeast Petro team came out in their signature pink shirts with the words, “Hope. Fight. Cure.” to walk with many others in support of finding a cure for breast cancer. The team raised close to $1000 to donate to the organization and took their time to come out for this event.
Not only is this an important event for the Southeast Petro team to commit to each year, but there is a sentimental value to this walk as well. There are breast cancer survivors that work at Southeast Petro, and every year this group comes out on those women’s behalf in support of their fight and all that they have overcome. Ā One day, there will be a cure, and we will have been a part of that cause.
