As I am sure all of you are aware, the EMV deadline of October 1, has come and gone, and still the majority of you don’t have EMV capable equipment.
This is just a quick update for those of you wondering where your equipment orders are, and if you are susceptible to the liability shift that other retailers are facing.
First, liability fraud: In a nutshell, no one needs to worry about the liability shift unless you have not ordered your equipment yet (excluding Chevron/Texaco Stations). If you are an Exxon, Mobil, Shell, BP, Sunoco, or Citgo Station and have ordered your equipment by the deadline, but have not received it yet, you are not going to see any effect of the liability shift as it is covered by your brand until you get the equipment in. If you are a Chevron/Texaco station, your deadline to order equipment is by December 31st this year, so you are not affected.
Second, equipment order status: Just so you are all aware, equipment orders have been made and are being processed. We have been informed that Verifone equipment processing is backed up and that is what is delaying the deployment of equipment orders. We do not have any other information about how long it will be until the equipment is processed and shipped, however we are constantly checking with our proper channels as to any updates that we will pass along as soon as we know more.
If you have any concerns, please contact your territory managers for further guidance.
