Brevard County, FL – Monica Shah, Director of Community Relations at Southeast Petro Distributors Inc., and an Up with People Alumna have helped raised over $45,000 in sponsorships for ‘Up with People Live World Tour’, a global organization bringing change to local communities internationally.
Up with People is a service leadership and performing arts program that takes young adults on a semester-long, multi-continent tour to affect change and inspire the communities they visit. Participants from 20 countries travel to a new destination each week. Throughout this journey they impact the communities they visit through host family stays, cultural exchange, 1,000+ hours of community service, leadership and diversity curricula for 2,500+ youth and putting on a captivating performance for the public using the international language of music.
This tour will mark the second time this group has come to Brevard County and has had an impact to the local community with their services. Up with People was introduced to Brevard by Ms. Shah and Southeast Petro in 2015, where 51 local families hosted the cast members in their homes, 10 local charities were impacted with 1,431 hours of community service, and the cast performed live for over 1,600 people.
The ‘Up with People Live World Tour’ presentation is an energetic and magical musical routine used as a medium to communicate a message of hope and goodwill across nations. Two evening performance shows will be held at Eau Gallie High School on Friday, March 16th at 8:00 P.M., and again Saturday, March 17th at 7:00 P.M. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Hunger Project, a local organization close to Monica’s heart.

Local individuals and businesses, as well as some major corporations are sponsoring the tour at the request of Shah, and the list continues to grow. Monica Shah is the Director of Community Relations at Southeast Petro Distributors, Inc., one of the largest wholesale fuel suppliers in the Southeast, located locally in Cocoa, FL. Shah grew up watching her dad Mike Shah excel in the fuel industry when he opened his first gas station in 1980. She officially started working at Southeast Petro in 2004 after she graduated from Georgia Tech University. She now oversees the charitable events for the company and has been a part of growing the family business. Southeast Petro supplies fuel to over 400 gas stations throughout the Southeastern United States and employs over 200 people.
